Description from the seller

Ella Fitzgerald, 1986

Ella Fitzgerald, nicknamed “Queen of Jazz” and “The First Lady of Song,” is universally regarded as one of the greatest and most influential jazz singers of all time. Over her remarkable career—crowned by 14 Grammy Awards—she mastered the musical scene with a voice of unique power, characterized by an extension beyond three octaves.
Active for as long as 59 years, Ella Fitzgerald published over seventy albums, selling about 40 million copies worldwide. Her improvisational skill, especially in scat singing, has entered legend: no one else could transform the voice into a pure musical instrument, creating virtuosity that could last more than five minutes without ever losing melodic elegance.
Towards the end of her career, she loved to surprise the audience with entertaining and flawless imitations of other artists: notably those of Rose Murphy, Dinah Washington, Della Reese, and Louis Armstrong.
This exclusive image was created by Franco Turcati during a memorable concert by Ella Fitzgerald in Turin (Italy) in 1986.
