Description from the seller
New Series – Lost Souls
David Law
Photographer Artist – Creator of contemporary images
Multidisciplinary photographic artist, author and musician, David Law develops work centered on gaze, presence and perception of the image in urban space. He first made a name for himself with a series dedicated to storefront mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave rise to an art book published in 2021. Intrigued by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he continues this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.
New Series – Lost Souls
With this series, David Law plunges into sparse and dark worlds, inhabited by silhouettes of phantoms suspended in mid-air. These indistinct, almost erased presences drift through strange landscapes where emptiness becomes matter. Through a visual language built with contemporary graphic tools, the artist explores the notions of isolation, trace and memory. A silent journey, at the borders of the visible and the invisible.
Edition & Manufacturing
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by an authenticity certificate. The prints are produced on aluminum with a built-in rear mounting. Printed on luminous white vinyl, double-mounted between two aluminum plates, with a soft UV- and humidity-resistant laminate, guaranteeing excellent durability, great long-term stability of colors and a modern, contemporary look.
Profile
Since 2014, David Law has participated in about twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the official photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Alongside his visual work, he develops a writer-artist-musician practice including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book, and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the group FRENZY.
