High Coast - Mountains 01 - Multråberget - 500 ml

Located in Bjärtrå, on the banks of the Ångermanälven river in northern Sweden, the distillery was founded in 2010. It was named High Coast Distillery, in tribute to the surrounding "High Coast" (Höga Kusten), a UNESCO World Heritage region.

The climate as an asset: Positioned at the 63rd parallel north, the distillery experiences extreme temperature variations (down to -30 °C in winter and up to +30 °C in summer). These thermal amplitudes force the distillate to interact intensely with the wood of the casks, accelerating and uniquely characterizing the maturation process.

The Mountains collection pushes further the aromatic exploration initiated by the brand's famous core-range whisky, Berg ("Mountain" in Swedish). It focuses on the art of wine cask maturation and finishing.

Age & Distillate Base: An 8-year-old whisky, crafted from a heavily peated distillate with a phenol level of 45 ppm.

Double Maturation: The distillate first aged for over 5 years in second-fill Bourbon casks (200L), before benefiting from an extended finishing of nearly 3 years in Pedro Ximénez (PX) Sherry casks (250L).

Limited Edition: A rare bottling limited to 6,000 bottles worldwide, bottled at a powerful 51% ABV, with no artificial coloring and no chill-filtration.

The alliance between the power of peat and the syrupy richness of PX Sherry creates a remarkable balance.

Nose: Deep and rich. A delicate dry wood smoke intermingles with the sweet indulgence of raisins (Sultana), candied cherries, and vanilla bean.

Palate: Voluminous and full of character. Earthy peat and soot envelop sweet notes of cotton candy, poached pear, and caramel, all enhanced by the complexity of nuts and sweet spices (cinnamon).

Finish: Medium-long to lingering, stretching into notes of tobacco, dark chocolate, leather, and woody vanilla.
