This work constitutes a particularly rare and sought-after original edition. It bears number 319 and was printed on Japanese paper, with a limited run of only 500 copies.
Kālidāsa (4th–5th century CE) is one of the greatest poets and playwrights of classical Sanskrit literature in India. His work is set in the Golden Age of the Gupta Empire, a period of great cultural and artistic flourishing. The Round of the Seasons (Ritusāṃhāra) is traditionally regarded as one of his early lyric poems.
This lyric poem describes the metamorphoses of nature and the feelings of love through the course of the six seasons of the Indian calendar.
Binding in good condition.
The volume has 84 pages.
