The Rolex Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona reference 16523 is one of the most distinctive generations of the iconic Daytona collection. Produced between 1988 and 2000, this two-tone Rolesor model is widely known among collectors as the “Zenith Daytona”, referring to its Rolex Calibre 4030, based on the legendary Zenith El Primero chronograph movement.

The Rolex Daytona reference 16523 belongs to the first generation of automatic Daytona watches. Its nickname “Zenith Daytona” comes from the use of the Zenith El Primero as the base for the Rolex Calibre 4030.
This particular example is distinguished by its white dial with diamond-set hour markers, surrounded by yellow gold. The three black and yellow-gold bordered sub-dials and the red “DAYTONA” inscription create the characteristic appearance of this period.
The two-tone Rolesor construction combines stainless steel with 18-carat yellow gold, used for the tachymetric bezel, crown, chronograph pushers and centre links of the Oyster bracelet. The watch is fitted with an Oyster bracelet, reference 78393, and is supplied with one additional bracelet link.
