Louis-Gustave Cambier (1874–1949), attributed to – Landscape at Forrières – 1908

Oil on canvas, an early representation of a rural landscape at Forrières, in Belgium: house surrounded by abundant vegetation, treated in a generous and expressive medium with green, brown, and ochre tones.

The work bears on the frame an old plaque stating:
« L. G. Cambier – 1908 – Paysage Forrières ».

The date “1908” is also inscribed on the back of the canvas.

Attribution to Louis-Gustave Cambier (Brussels, 1874 – Ixelles, 1949), Belgian painter, sculptor and engraver, notably known for his landscapes of the Ardennes, the Meuse, and the Sonian Forest.
