De Violiste, a 1918 oil painting by Félicien Bobeldijk (1876–1964) from the Netherlands, a portrait of a young violinist, sold with a frame.
Description from the seller
Antique oil painting "The Violinist" — Félicien Bobeldijk (1876-1964), signed and dated 1918
A atmospheric and elegant portrait of a young violinist, painted by Félicien Bobeldijk (1876-1964), Dutch artist from the Amsterdam School period, known for his portraits and Amsterdam cityscapes. Bottom-right hand-signed and dated: 'F. Bobeldijk, 1918'.
The painting has previously been professionally restored by restorer John Polder from Borne, known for restoring Van Gogh's "The Mill" for Museum De Fundatie. The yellowed varnish layer has been expertly removed, allowing the original colors and skin tones to come fully into their own. The contrast between the before and after photos clearly shows the quality improvement. During the restoration the work was fitted with a new, matching warm-toned wooden frame — the original (silver-colored, ornate) frame in the before photo is therefore not the frame included. The work is immediately ready to hang.
