Very rare historical work on the siege and conquest of the Tunisian coastal town Mahdia (Aphrodisium) by the troops of Emperor Charles V in the year 1550. The account describes the military events of the campaign against the fortress controlled by Ottoman corsairs and contains numerous war- and contemporary-historical details of the battles in the central Mediterranean.
Of particular note is the two-page woodcut map, which shows southern Sicily as well as the coast of Tunisia. There is also a woodcut coat of arms of Pope Julius III on the title page.
Bound in a flexible parchment binding using an older manuscript. The clasps are missing.

The following leaf at the same height also bears a defect with some loss of text. The reverse side of the title page also shows a slightly larger stain, presumably from the former ex-libris.
