Artist biography:

Enrique Beltrán Messa (Valencia, 1940–2006) was a contemporary Spanish landscape painter, based in Besalú (Girona). He trained at the San Carlos School of Fine Arts in Valencia and at Sant Jordi in Barcelona, and enriched his style after travels to Paris, Rome, Vienna, and London.

Beltrán Messa specialized in rural and urban landscapes, showing a strong preference for nature. His work, of a classic style, stands out for its serenity, balance, and nuanced luminosity, in the vein of Claudio de Lorena and the Barbizon School, as well as impressionist influences. Yellow, green, and ochre tones predominate in his palette; light and the Mediterranean Sea are protagonists in his painting, along with scenes of lively and rainy cities, such as Barcelona and Valencia.

He also experimented with mixed techniques such as collage, using newspaper paper. His works are in Spanish and international collections (Germany, France, USA, Saudi Arabia). He was a prolific artist, consistent in drawing and in perceiving details.
