This painting presents a wide Mediterranean landscape dominated by a succession of cypress trees that rise boldly over the fields. The composition combines the dark verticality of the trees with the broad horizontal bands of earth, hills, and sky. The result is a scene full of depth, light, and serenity, in which nature appears transformed by a rich variety of greens, yellows, violets, ochers, and golden tones.

In the foreground stretches a warm terrain composed of yellows, oranges, greens, and browns. These hues suggest a dry or mature field, illuminated by the light of a mild day. Among the golden areas lie small green and dark patches that provide contrast and recall the presence of grasses, shrubs, and wild vegetation distributed irregularly.

The cypresses on the left form a compact, powerful group. Their tall, narrow silhouettes rise from the lower area to occupy a large part of the landscape. Some appear very close to each other, while others are slightly separated, creating a varied vertical rhythm. Their colors range from dark green, emerald, yellow-green, to small bluish accents.

On the right, another group of cypresses visually balances the composition. Two larger trees dominate this area, accompanied by other smaller specimens. Their presence frames the landscape and directs the gaze toward the center, where the fields open to the distance. This arrangement creates the impression of viewing the terrain from a path lined with trees.

The luminosity of the cypresses is particularly striking. Some parts of their canopies seem to receive direct light, acquiring bright yellow and green hues, while others remain in deep shadow. Between both groups of cypresses unfold extensive fields arranged in different color bands. A yellow band runs through the center of the scene, suggesting a sunlit cultivated area. In the background rise several mountains or hills with soft profiles, represented in violet, gray, mauve, and bluish tones. Their forms overlap and fade gently into the distance. The presence of these elevations closes the horizon and provides a sense of stability, while reinforcing the Mediterranean character of the scene.

The sky occupies a substantial part of the composition and appears full of color variations. Pale yellows, creams, ochers, and violets blend to create a warm, changing atmosphere. Some areas seem illuminated by a sun hidden behind the clouds, while others show a deeper, more mysterious tone. This combination can evoke the late afternoon, when light changes the colors of the fields.

The composition is built through a balance between strength and tranquility. The cypresses bring solemnity and upward movement, while the bands of fields convey calm and breadth.
