Large Delft tin-glazed platter – De Drie Klokken – c. 1720–1760

Very fine and large Delft tin-glazed platter with a diameter of 34 cm, produced at the pottery De Drie Klokken in Delft. The plate is richly painted in cobalt blue on a white tin-glazed ground and forms a beautiful example of high-quality Delft faience from the first half of the 18th century.

The central motif shows a stylized flower- or fruit basket with a fan motif, surrounded by a wide border with alternating large floral ornaments and geometric panels. The composition is clearly inspired by Chinese Kangxi porcelain, which at the time served as a model for many Delft pottery makers.

The reverse bears the mark of De Drie Klokken, one of the well-known Delft pottery firms from the 18th century.

Condition
The plate is in good antique condition, with no restorations. Only slight edge wear and normal signs of use and age, entirely in keeping with its age. The glaze has a beautiful authentic appearance.
