Bernard Loriot (1925–1998)
Normand figurative painter, Bernard Loriot established himself as one of the artists attached to Honfleur and to the Seine estuary. Self-taught, in the 1950s he developed a luminous, lively and spontaneous painting, marked by the influence of the Honfleur masters and by careful observation of ports, beaches and urban scenes.
His colorful seascapes, animated sailboats, his Venetian landscapes and his Parisian views constitute the essence of a warm body of work, immediately recognizable. Distributed in France and internationally, Loriot is today sought after for the decorative strength of his compositions and the joy emanating from his palette.
