On this square format, Medsan places Totoro at the top of a hill, back to the viewer, facing Mount Fuji. The large gray creature from My Neighbor Totoro is seated, still, its two ears upright and its black whiskers protruding on either side of its rounded silhouette. Against its flank, Mei, in a pink dress, brown hair in two pigtails, leans on him and looks in the same direction. A little to the right, the white small Totoro has sat in the same posture.

In front of them opens the valley: flooded rice paddies reflecting the light, a blue lake, the snowy cone of Fuji, and to the right, a five-tier red pagoda perched among the trees. The sun, white and high in an orange sky, lights up the green and gold foliage of the great tree that covers the left corner. On the ground, a closed black umbrella with a golden handle, an ear of corn, and a few chestnuts. A suspended moment, before the descent.

About Medsan / Popsan:
Medsan and Popsan are two signatures of a single artist. Under the name Medsan, he explores the world of medicine and anatomy; under the name Popsan, he revisits icons of popular culture by blending pop art, Japanese art, and anachronisms. On Catawiki, his pop works still appear under the name Medsan, but they belong to the Popsan universe. He creates within Atelier Joconde, a family of artists’ workshop, alongside artists Le Yack (figurative painting) and Neo Pablo (abstraction).
