Andrea Krauß is among the prominent figures of contemporary German painting. A prizewinner of the AOK Nordost Art Prize (Berlin/Brandenburg) and former stipendiate of the renowned Künstlerhaus Lukas in Ahrenshoop, she completed her studies at the Braunschweig University of Art. For many years she has devoted herself consistently to painting and today lives and works in her studio in the heart of Berlin.

At the center of her artistic work is the combination of memory, atmosphere, and landscape. Beginning with personal impressions, Andrea Krauß develops pictorial worlds that point beyond the individual and touch universal experiences of nature, space, and transience. Recurring motifs are especially birches and other elements of nature, whose quiet presence blends with traces of human creation and memory.
