Biography
Student in Tuscany of Cipriano Mannucci and Primo Conti, he drew from the former the propensity for the elegiac mood of the countryside and from the latter the inclination toward twentieth‑century experimentation.
Lived mainly in Genoa where his painting was also influenced by the outcomes of the major Ligurian protagonists, for example Emanuele Rambaldi: his works, in fact, conveyed that post‑impressionist naturalism that brought light and color to the most sensitive formal interpenetrations of painting.
He participated in important Italian group exhibitions, including those of Sacred Art at the Angelicum in Milan (1946), of Quadrivium of Milan and of the Biennale d’Arte Città di Genova (1975), as well as the Ligurian Contemporary Art Exhibition (masters and pupils) organized by the Municipality of Genoa at Palazzo Ducale in 1980.
