Description from the seller
Vintage 1950s Solid Bronze Mid-Century Modern Door Knob with Bronze Starburst Backplate – In excellent condition – No reserve.
A striking 1950s Mid-Century Modern architectural bronze door pull. The sculptural melon-shaped knob is beautifully contrasted by the dramatic, pointed starburst rosette, giving this piece an unmistakable architectural presence.
The bronze has been polished and waxed to the original golden bronze tones. Heavy, solid and exceptionally tactile, this is far more than ordinary door hardware – it is a genuine decorative architectural object.
The stationary centre pull was designed to be mounted through the door, using the original long threaded fixing. A fantastic statement piece for an entrance door, renovation project or collector of original Mid-Century Modern hardware.
The 1950s saw architectural hardware become increasingly sculptural, reflecting the era's fascination with streamlined forms, atomic-age geometry and functional objects with strong visual impact.
