"In Undressed, Mario Testino sheds a few layers. Alongside the exhibition conceived exclusively for the Helmut Newton Foundation in Berlin, this intimate series explores the notion of nudity in photography while revealing Testino's archives, through shots that transcend the photographer's image and public posture to allow a deeper understanding of his practice and his work.

The 50 presented photographs focus on body nudity: they explore and test the traditions and boundaries related to sexuality, gender identity, and fashion. Also an homage to Helmut Newton's influence, these shots metamorphose into abstract bodily landscapes, the protagonists appearing as pure forms – a bust, a statue.

A highlight of the series are the previously unseen photos taken in the Testino studio, where an exuberant atmosphere reigns, full of the thrill provoked by nudity and a teasing, mischievous romantic energy that never slides into the obscene or pornographic.

Testino's models are varied, from models like Kate Moss and Amber Valletta to anonymous androgynous men, photographed individually or in groups. Many intimate moments are captured, sometimes impromptu, sometimes carefully orchestrated, like the young man shaving the upper pubic hair of a woman in a luxurious bathroom. In the vein of SIR, many of these photos can be interpreted as redefining masculine codes, like Newton who crafted his own definition of feminine beauty.
