An antique Italian painting from the 17th century. An oil on canvas depicting a religious subject, the portrait of Saint Catherine Fieschi Adorno, known as Saint Catherine of Genoa, of good painting hand. A picture of fine size and proportion adorned with an antique, carved and gilded frame (re-gilded during restoration), with pleasant decoration.
A work of good luminosity characterized by warm colors. An oval painting that depicts the saint with the typical elements of her iconography: the skull, symbol of meditation on the Passion, the book, indicating her spiritual doctrine, the crucifix that pierces Catherine's heart, symbol of her mystical experience.
