Description from the seller
Splendid and important complete collection of 12 volumes of William Shakespeare's works, "the Bedford Edition", published in London and New York by Frederick Warne & Co. in 1889.
Original edition in English, with "Life and Glossary", consisting of all 12 volumes from vol. I to vol. XII.
The books feature the characteristic antique binding with gilt titles on the spine and show evident signs of age, abrasions and wear to the covers and edges, as clearly visible in the photographs. Only one book has a portion of the cover detached that can be reattached. The inner pages, however, are readable and retain the charm of the old edition.
Also present is the elegant wooden stand/display shown in the photos, ideal for showcasing the collection in a library, study, or classical setting.
An interesting collection for enthusiasts of Shakespeare, antique books, English literature, and antiquarian book collecting.
