Beautiful antique vase in ruby red glass, made in the tradition of Bohemian glassmaking.
This type of glassware is particularly recognizable for its deep red glass and its hand-worked decoration. Here, the vase features an extensive floral decor composed of flowers, foliage, scrolls, and lattice motifs. The decoration continues over the entire upper part as well as around the foot.
The form is also very elegant, with a flared base, a rounded belly and a long neck that gradually widens to a broad opening.
This work particularly recalls productions made in Bohemia and Czechoslovakia during the 20th century, and especially the type of glassware associated with Egermann. I have, however, not found any signature or label on the vase that would allow a definite attribution to this manufactory.
It measures about 24 cm in height and about 12 cm in diameter at the opening and weighs 550 grams.
It shows a few small nicks and tiny chips on the upper rim, visible in the photographs. Despite these signs of use and age, it remains a very beautiful decorative piece with a particularly deep ruby color and very fine decoration.
