This exquisite ukiyo-e reproduction presents Torii Kiyonaga’s celebrated beauty painting “外出の娘と供 (Beauties and Attendant on an Outing)”, created using traditional Japanese woodblock printing techniques by the Adachi Institute in 1967.
The scene depicts elegant women from Edo-period merchant families taking a leisurely outing. The figures are portrayed in Kiyonaga’s iconic “tall beauty” style, characterized by graceful elongated bodies, refined movements, and sophisticated expressions.
The leading woman wears a luxurious purple furisode decorated with delicate floral patterns, while the accompanying figures are dressed in elegant kimono featuring traditional Japanese motifs such as asanoha (hemp leaf patterns) and geometric designs. A young attendant carrying belongings appears subtly in the background, adding depth and realism to the composition.
