For sale is an edition of the influential cosmogonical-theological work by the English scholar and theologian Thomas Burnet (1635–1715). In it he develops a natural-philosophy-influenced theory on the origin and development of the Earth, with the biblical flood centrally woven into his worldview.
The work includes a folding plate depicting the Western and Eastern hemispheres (comparison copies often show two folding plates, each with a separate illustration). In addition there is a frontispiece as well as 12 of 12 partly full-page illustrations. Complementarily, there are several woodcut initials and decorative embellishments in the text.
