Description from the seller
For sale: an inseparable set of three bibliophile volumes published by the prestigious association of the « Bibliolâtres de France » in the 1950s.
A superb opportunity for a collector: the three volumes come from the same historic family subscription and all bear the same edition number (Exemplaire N° 372 sur 1 200), printed nominatively at the time for the same recipient (Brigitte Hue).
All volumes are bound in sheets, with printed soft covers, protected by a rigid case and a parchment-like cream/ivory carton case. Printed on Pur Chiffon BFK art paper from Rives.
The lot includes:
Madame de Sévigné – Lettres intimes historiques, critiques et morales (1959). Illustrated edition with wood engravings by Robert Cami. In very good overall condition, the box and interior very fresh.
Villiers de l’Isle-Adam – Histoires insolites & Contes (1954). Illustrated edition with original wood engravings by Camille Berg. Usage condition: foxing and damp spots are visible on the edges and on the borders of some interior pages.
Voltaire – Mélanges : Anecdotes, Dialogues, Épigrammes (1958). Illustrated edition with wood engravings by Robert Cami. Note: The outer soft jacket has suffered a historic water damage accident (significant discolorations and halos on the paper). However, the inner text block is miraculously preserved, very white and perfectly sound (see photos).
Ideal for a connoisseur of fine typographic impressions and wood-engraved illustrations of the 20th century.
