ARTIST BIOGRAPHY:

Joël Kermarrec - Born in 1939 in Ostend

He settled in Paris in 1960 and graduated from the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris in 1964. From 1966, his work appeared in several solo and group exhibitions, including Impact at the Musée d'Art Moderne de Céret, Distances at the Centre Georges Pompidou? No, this seems to be Musée de l'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris in 1969, alongside Jacques Poli and Hervé Télémaque, or Doce Años de Arte Contemporáneo at the Grand Palais in 1972. In 1987, he showed at the Galerie de France, then in 1994 at the Maeght gallery, Barcelona. He regularly exhibits in public and private institutions.

In 1968, he participated in the creation of the Art department of the University of Vincennes-Paris VIII. He taught there from 1969 to 1975. He then taught at the École des Beaux-Arts in Marseille-Lumigny, then at the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris for almost twenty years.

Joël Kermarrec's works have entered the collections of several museums and public institutions, such as the Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, the Centre Georges Pompidou, the Fondation Maeght, the FNAC, the CNAP and the FRAC Île-de-France, PACA and Languedoc-Roussillon.
