Description from the seller
The French artist HeRsK (born Olivier Leynaud, 1979 in Argenteuil) is one of the defining figures of contemporary urban and pop art. Beginning with the Paris graffiti scene of the 1990s, he developed a distinct three-dimensional visual language that fuses raw street-art aesthetics—such as tags, drips, and neon colors—with sculptural object art.
HeRsK gained international recognition through his iconic series “Something to Suck.” The motif of the bitten, melting ice pop on a stick serves as a nostalgic projection surface for childhood memories as well as a metaphor for the ephemerality of modern consumer goods. The wooden object functions like a scaled-down urban wall, covered with multilayer graffiti overlays.
The present work Something to Suck (#311) from 2020 (62 × 24 × 6 cm) showcases his oeuvre in its pure form. Made from wood, acrylic, and spray paint, the unique piece from the Mini edition captivates with bright neon pink and yellow and with plastically dripping color surfaces. The surface fuses blue bubble lettering, delicate tags, and a yellow crown in homage to Jean-Michel Basquiat. The back of the work is original signed, dated, and titled by the artist (MINI Something TO Suck #311 / HeRsK / 2020).
The artwork was acquired in 2021 during an exhibition at the TILSITT GALLERY in Porto, Portugal. It is in very good overall condition, with only a small defect on the inside top of the yellow tip, about 1 cm in size, where color has flaked off, not visible from the frontal view. Shipping will be carried out professionally and securely packed in bubble wrap and sturdy cardboard.
