Benvenuto Benvenuti – Landscape with Figure, early 20th century
A large charcoal drawing on paper by Benvenuto Benvenuti (Livorno, 1881–1959), made in the first half of the 20th century.

The work depicts a broad rural and mountainous landscape, crossed by a path along which a female figure advances. Houses, reliefs, trees and large rocky masses mark the depth of the composition. The landscape, one of the recurring subjects in Benvenuti’s output, is built through dense hatching and differing charcoal intensities, with particular attention to the atmospheric rendering of the sky and to the form of the terrain. Benvenuti indeed devoted a significant part of his activity to landscape and drawing.

Technique: charcoal on paper.

On the reverse: there is a long handwritten inscription referring to the work and its exhibition history, visible in the photographs.

The work is presented within a gilded frame with a light passe-partout.
