Brutalist op-art porcelain vase, model number 2987, designed by the renowned German designer Martin Freyer for the prestigious Rosenthal Studio-Linie.
The design dates from the 1960s to the 1970s and is characterized by the matte, unglazed white bisque porcelain (bisque porcelain) with a distinctive rough relief texture and geometric organic notches.
Martin Freyer was an architect, graphic designer (he designed the Volkswagen VW logo in 1938), set designer, textile and wallpaper designer, photographer, painter, lecturer, and freelance designer of glass and porcelain for Rosenthal from 1964 to 1974.
Many designs from Rosenthal's 'studio-linie' or 'Studio Line', into which this vase also falls, were intended to let the surface of objects carry the decoration, making color completely unnecessary.

Brutalistische op-art designporseleinen vaas, model nummer 2987, ontworpen door de bekende Duitse ontwerper Martin Freyer voor de prestigieuze Rosenthal Studio-Linie.
Het ontwerp stamt uit de jaren 60 à 70 en kenmerkt zich door het matte, ongeglaasde witte biscuitporselein (bisque porselein) met een herkenbare, ruwe reliëfstructuur en geometrische organische inkepingen.
Martin Freyer was architect, grafisch ontwerper (hij ontwierp het Volkswagen VW-logo in 1938), decorbouwer, textiel- en behangontwerper, fotograaf, schilder, docent en freelance ontwerper van glas en porselein voor Rosenthal van 1964 tot 1974.
Veel ontwerpen uit de 'studio-linie' of 'Studio Line' van Rosenthal, waar deze vaas ook onder valt, hadden als doel om het oppervlak van objecten de decoratie te laten vormen, waardoor kleur volledig overbodig werd.
