Royal Copenhagen - Tureen - Muster Nr. 2 - hard-paste porcelain

Early lidded terrine from the Royal Copenhagen Porcelain Manufactory, Denmark, with the historic decor 'Blå Blomst' (Blue Flower / Pattern No. 2).

The terrine is hand-painted in cobalt blue under clear glaze with naturalistic floral bouquets. A particularly characteristic feature is the continuous blue-and-white border around the rim on both the terrine and the lid.

Inside lies the historic, hand-painted Royal Copenhagen mark with the three blue waves, as well as an additional painter's or workshop mark. The form, decoration, and execution of the mark indicate an early production dating to around 1810–1820.

The terrine has two side handles and the original domed lid with a knop.

Condition: clearly aged and damaged. Inside there are larger chips or losses of the glazed surface, noticeable cracks and hairline fractures, craquelé, discolorations, and further signs of use and aging. There are also corresponding signs of aging on the exterior. All relevant damages are thoroughly documented in the photographs. Whether individual restorations were carried out in the past cannot be determined with certainty from the available photographs.
