“Still Life with Sunflowers”
This work is a contemporary still life of 100 × 80 cm, made in acrylic on canvas, distinguished by its vibrant play of chromatic contrasts between warm tones — such as the yellows of the sunflowers, the orange of the pumpkin, and the red of the vase — and cool-toned backgrounds and containers. Its execution through a spatula technique provides a rich tactile texture and firm, angular strokes, which synthesize light and reflections expressively rather than seeking meticulous realism, thus offering a modern, fresh, and visually strong reinterpretation of traditional still life.

Vida AMReyes. (Granma, Cuba 1991) discovered from a very young age that drawing was not just a pastime, but a way to translate the world. In 2010, she graduated with honors from the prestigious Carlos Enrique Gómez Academy of Fine Arts, where she consolidated an exceptional technical dexterity in oil painting, acrylic, and drawing from life, foundations that would later shape her conceptual signature.
Her early career years unfolded amid the Cuban cultural effervescence, actively participating in young art salons and group exhibitions. Her work began to stand out immediately: in salons and exhibitions, earning numerous awards and mentions.
AMReyes’s work stands out for a visceral and imposing realism that captures the eye at once. However, her approach does not stop at mere photographic mimicry. On an anatomy worked with rigor or faces charged with deep psychographic expressiveness, the artist overlays and integrates icons, allegories, and conceptual elements: wings that seem invisible to the bearer, suspended threads, blocks of dense color, or garments laden with symbolism. For her, the human body and the everyday figure are the perfect canvas to reflect on identity.
This fusion between technical mastery and symbolic narrative opened the way to her international projection. Over the last decade, her pieces have been acquired by private collectors and galleries in:
