Limited and numbered art edition – specimen no. 399/1499
An extraordinary edition of Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy, produced by UTET Grandi Opere according to criteria of high editorial and artisanal quality.
The volume, 520 pages and large format (32.5 × 45 cm), belongs to a limited edition of only 1,499 numbered copies. The proposed specimen is no. 399/1499, as reported and signed in the colophon by the president of UTET Grandi Opere, Fabio Lazzari.
The work is distinguished by its refined editorial presentation: a binding in precious natural calf leather, handcrafted, with decorated paper and details made according to traditional techniques.
The text of the Divine Comedy is accompanied by important introductory contributions and a rich iconographic apparatus. The three cantiche are supplemented by 40 plates drawn from the illustrations of the Divine Comedy by William Blake, in addition to a vast final section dedicated to Dantean iconography, with hundreds of images drawn from codices, illustrations and artworks inspired by the Comedy.
Also particularly precious is the reproduction of the work by Domenico di Michelino, depicting Dante and the Comedy, used as a decorative feature of the cover.
