Japanese lacquered soup bowls from Aizu-nuri, “Sadei” with lids (Set of 5) Vintage - Japan - Showa Period (1926 - 1989)

Authentic set of 5 Japanese soup bowls with lids (Suimono-wan), presented in their original wooden box (Tomobako).

This is a traditional hand-made lacquerware from the Aizu region (Aizu-nuri), bearing the renowned mark "Sadei" (沙泥), dating from the Showa era.

Design & Aesthetics: The bowls feature a beautiful deep burgundy red lacquer with an elegant gold floral motif (Maki-e style). The surfaces of the bowls and lids display a delicate engraved motif in faceted design, subtly catching the light.

Usage: Traditionally used in Japan to serve broth (Suimono) or miso soup on special occasions and New Year. Perfect today for a refined table or for collectors of Asian tableware.

Excellent vintage condition. The bowls have hardly been used or unused. The original wooden box shows light storage marks from time, which attest to its authenticity.
