Beautiful old/vintage Japanese ceramic cup, accompanied by its traditional wooden box.
The piece features an elegant decoration in soft tones of gray-blue, cream and pale pink. The center is adorned with a stylized floral motif surrounded by a radiating pattern, while the rim presents a finely decorated frieze.
The glaze shows a beautiful network of fine crazing as well as various irregularities, small stains and firing marks that give this piece a lot of character and a typically Japanese aesthetic close to the spirit of wabi-sabi.
The reverse reveals the red-brown clay at the foot as well as traces and irregularities related to the manufacturing and firing.
