La Comédie humaine by Honoré de Balzac, bibliophile edition published by Jean de Bonnot: complete collection in 28 volumes in-8 (octavo).
Bindings: publisher's in full black leather, boards stamped and adorned with a gilded theatrical scene, richly decorated spine, [gilt top], black ribbon bookmarks. Cream paper, with at the colophon an engraved vignette depicting a Morris column and 19th-century Parisiennes. The colophon reads: “realized in the art workshop of Jean de Bonnot, completed printing on the anniversary day of Saint George, patron of Cavaliers.”
Complete set of 28 volumes numbered from 1 to 28.
Condition: very well cared for, near mint. Bindings clean, gilding bright, interiors fresh.
