Astral carbide lamp, bicycle lamp, c. 1900-1920
Antique carbide lamp from the brand Astral, originally intended as a bicycle lamp. The lamp is made of nickel-plated metal and consists of a cylindrical lower part with a water inlet, connected via an articulated bracket to the carbide chamber at the top and the lantern cap with reflector. The round lantern cap is equipped with a faceted red glass lens, with on the other side of the lamp a green lens, intended as a directional indicator. The lamp has a ribbed base and a screw-on lid on top of the carbide chamber. The height is 15 cm.
The lamp is in used, antique condition, appropriate for its age. The nickel-plated metal shows an authentic patina with slight oxidation and signs of wear. Both glass lenses are intact.
