Splendid and elegant centerpiece/basket stand from the Napoleon III period (France, mid-to-late 19th century). The piece consists of a circular plate in the finest porcelain, decorated along the edge with a vivid celeste blue band (celeste blue) enriched by small bouquets of roses and multicolored flowers entirely hand-painted with a brush.
The plate is set in a rich, heavy contemporaneous gilded bronze mount (ormolu). The beautiful mobile, reclining handle stands out, fixed on side pins and finely chased with grapevine and bunches of grapes in relief. This specific constructive feature met a precise functional need of the era: the ability to lower the handle laterally allowed easy cutting of cake or dessert and serving portions at table without the obstruction of the structure.
Another remarkable detail of value lies in the completely modular structure of the mount. Thanks to the era-specific brackets and screws on the bottom, the entire bronze framework can be easily opened; this design feature allowed, in case of accidental porcelain breakage, to replace the damaged plate with another of the same diameter, preserving the integrity and use of the bronze artwork.
The base rests on feet decorated with acanthus leaves. On the underside the original hand-made tightening brackets and cutting screws, typical of pre-industrial manufacture, are visible. Porcelain produced in white (likely Limoges/Paris) and decorated/mounted subsequently by Parisian art workshops of the 19th century. No visible marks under the base (covered by the bronze).

Conditions:
Excellent overall condition. The porcelain is intact, free of hairlines, cracks, or chips. The original gilding of the bronze is well preserved with its age patina. The reclining handle mechanism and the disassembly system are perfectly functional. No structural restorations.
