Description from the seller
Antique Art Deco Bronze Door Knob & Backplate – c. 1910s – Solid Bronze, Great Patina
In excellent condition – No reserve.
A superb antique solid bronze door knob with matching decorative backplate, dating from the 1910s. The substantial, finely sculpted knob features a striking radial, fluted design with alternating raised and recessed sections, giving it a strong early Art Deco character.
The bronze has developed a beautiful deep brown patina with warm coppery highlights, particularly across the raised surfaces. The matching backplate is equally impressive, with an openwork ornamental design typical of high-quality architectural hardware of the period.
A particularly interesting detail is the period square nut/connection, characteristic of early 20th-century door hardware. The construction is heavy and solid, weighing approx. 430 g.
This is not merely functional hardware but a highly decorative architectural detail, ideal for a period interior, restoration project or as a standalone collector's piece.
