Barche a vela is an oil painting from the XIXth century by Gustavo Mancinelli (Italy), sold with its frame.
Description from the seller
Gustavo Mancinelli was born in Rome while his father Giuseppe, an established painter, was in the capital for work. Since childhood he was steered toward art by his father, who guided him in his first steps. He began to make himself known with some quick drawings and portraits, which he sent to the Bourbon Exhibitions of the 1850s.
He worked with dedication until the 1890s of the 19th century, especially in the field of portraiture, where he continued to have great success. He died in Naples in 1906.
Mancinelli's painting style fits within the 19th-century academic realism, but with a strong orientalist and historicist influence, which is evident in his choice of exotic themes and in the meticulous rendering of costumes and settings. His works show a notable mastery of light and a pronounced attention to theatrical atmospheres, elements that enhance their aesthetic appeal.
The frame visible in the photo is included as a courtesy and does not constitute an integral part of the artwork. Any damage to the frame will not be a valid grounds for complaints or order cancellations.
