Magnificent copy of the work Filleuls de Napoléon (2nd period: 1830–1870), subtitled History of a family of soldiers, written by the famous Captain Danrit (pseudonym of Lieutenant Colonel Émile Driant) and richly illustrated by Paul de Sémant. Published in Paris by Librairie Ch. Delagrave (4th edition). The work traces the French military campaigns of the 19th century ( Algeria, Sevastopol, Italy, 1870) through the captivating narrative of the Cardignac family.
** Characteristics & condition of conservation:**
- Binding: publisher's red cloth binding fully decorated with a large polychrome scene on the front board depicting a cavalryman and a standard-bearer in the smoke of battle. Plate in good condition with colors that remain fresh and bright.
- Spine: Title and gold and black motifs clearly legible. Minor wear at the headcaps and edges.
- Edges: gilt-edged.
A fine collectible copy, very representative of the grand military-illustrated bindings of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
