Vase - Bronze - Japan - Meiji period (1868-1912)

Elegant pair of large decorative vases in patinated bronze, made in Japan during the Meiji period (1868–1912), characterized by refined relief decoration.

The two pieces feature a slender form, with a globular body, a tall cylindrical slightly flared neck, and a wide mouth with an outward-turned rim. On the sides of the neck are applied shaped handles, gracefully curved outward and ending with an ogee tip.

The entire surface is embellished with rich ornamental decoration executed in relief and engraving, consisting of vegetal motifs and stylized arabesques, arranged within traditional Japanese-style reserves and panels. On the neck runs a dense decoration of volutes and naturalistic motifs, while the lower body features wide lobed reserves alternated with ornamental motifs and stylized floral designs.

The surfaces are enriched by a dark brown patina, with color variations due to the aging of the metal and the artisanal workmanship.

Each vase rests on an independent tripod base, also finely decorated in relief, with a bulging body and three elegant curved feet.

Dimensions: 54 × 21 cm for each specimen.

Conditions:

Good overall condition appropriate to age and use, with normal signs of time, slight abrasions, and patina variations.

One of the two handles has undergone restoration. The handle has been re-located and structurally fixed to the vase.
