CHURCHES
OF
HAARLEM

This Bible had for many years been in the possession of an enthusiast who received the Bible from the Grote or Sint-Bavokerk in Haarlem. This beautiful and monumental church, located on the Grote Markt in the heart of the city, is Haarlem’s main church and very characteristic for the town. The impressive Müller organ is a world-famous pipe organ from 1738, built by the German organ builder Christian Müller. This largest organ in the Netherlands was played by Mozart, Beethoven and Händel, among others. The painter Frans Hals is buried in the church.

Condition of the object:

At the end of the NT and mainly from the psalm portion and the Evangelische Gezangen at the back, several pages with tape and signs of restoration (see photos).
