Fleeting Summer vangt een vluchtig moment waarin zomerhitte, beweging, mode en lichamelijke energie samensmelten tot één uitgesproken beeld.

Het werk voelt als een stilgezet filmframe uit een eindeloze zomerdag: de warmte hangt bijna tastbaar in de lucht, terwijl een lichaam en een modieus silhouet zich door het beeld lijken te bewegen. Fitness en high fashion ontmoeten elkaar in een scène die tegelijk verleidelijk, grafisch en licht vervreemdend aanvoelt. Het is geen traditionele weergave van een lichaam, maar een fragment — een moment uit een groter, onbekend verhaal.

De compositie is bewust sterk gecropt. Grote vormen domineren het doek en creëren een gevoel van nabijheid, alsof de toeschouwer midden in de scène wordt geplaatst. Een hand, textiele vormen en het gebogen lichaam worden bijna abstracte grafische elementen. Daardoor ontstaat een interessante spanning tussen figuratie en abstractie: het onderwerp is herkenbaar, maar de vorm wordt minstens zo belangrijk als het onderwerp zelf.

Fleeting Summer captures a fleeting moment in which summer heat, movement, fashion and physical energy merge into one striking image.

The work feels like a paused film frame from an endless summer day: the heat seems almost tangible, while a body and a fashion-driven silhouette appear to move through the composition. Fitness and high fashion meet in a scene that feels seductive, graphic and slightly surreal. Rather than presenting the body as a traditional portrait or figure study, the painting offers a fragment — a moment extracted from a much larger, unknown story.

The composition is deliberately tightly cropped. Large shapes dominate the canvas, creating an immediate sense of intimacy and proximity, as though the viewer has stepped directly into the scene. A hand, folds of fabric and the curved body become almost abstract graphic elements. This creates a compelling tension between figuration and abstraction: the subject remains recognisable, yet the shape and rhythm of the image become equally important.

The palette is bold, saturated and unmistakably summery. Hot orange and coral-red create a warm foundation that evokes sunlight, heat and the glowing atmosphere of a summer evening. Over de kunstenaar — Tevvyy

Tevvyy is een kunstenaar gevormd doormigratie, beweging en de botsing van culturen.
Geboren in een familie waarvan het verhaal meerdere generaties van vluchtelingen omvat, groeide Tevvyy op met een persoonlijke relatie totthema's als migratie, identiteit en ergens bij horen. Als globale nomade heeft hij zich door verschillende culturen en visuele wereldenbewogen, wat een uitgesproken internationaleblik op zijn werk heeft gevormd.
Als filmmaker, documentairemaker en multidisciplinair kunstenaar onderzocht Tevvyyaanvankelijk thema's als ongelijkheid, obsessie, identiteit en de maatschappelijke structuren die het dagelijks leven bepalen. Deze documentaire blik nam hij vervolgens mee naar zijn beeldendekunst, waar hij deze combineert met de krachtige beeldtaal van Amerikaanse en westerse Pop Art, gevormd door de cultuur waarin hij opgroeide.
Tevvyy studeerde aan het Liverpool Institute forPerforming Arts, opgericht door Sir Paul McCartney, waar hij de eerste Master of Arts-afgestudeerde in Music van de instelling werd.
Zijn praktijk heeft hem daarnaast naar het internationale culturele veld gebracht. Tevvyywerkte samen met de Verenigde Naties aankunstinstallaties voor het museum in de UNECA Africa Hall, waarbij zijn werk zich richtte opthema's als dekolonisatie, onderdrukking, bevrijding, vrijheid en neokolonialisme. Bekende beelden worden uit hun vertrouwdecontext gehaald en opnieuw opgebouwd totdirecte, grafische en cultureel geladen composities.
Er zit een uitgesproken cinematografischekwaliteit in Tevvyy's werk. Beelden voelen als fragmenten uit een groter verhaal, terwijl verzadigde kleuren, comic-esthetiek en Pop Art-iconografie een visuele taal creëren die tegelijkertijd herkenbaar en eigentijds is.

About the Artist — Tevvyy

Tevvyy is an artist shaped by displacement, movement and the collision of cultures.
Born into a family whose story spans generations of refugees, Tevvyy grew up with a deeplypersonal relationship to migration, identity andbelonging. A global nomad by experience and outlook, his perspective has been shaped by moving between cultures and visual worlds.
A filmmaker, documentarian and multidisciplinary artist, Tevvyy’s early creative work explored inequality, obsession, identity and the structures that shape contemporary society. He later brought this documentary perspectiveinto visual art, combining it with the bold language of American and Western Pop Art that influenced his youth.
Tevvyy is a graduate of the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, founded by Sir PaulMcCartney, where he became the institution’sfirst Master’s graduate in Music.
His practice has also taken him into the world of international cultural institutions. Tevvyy hasworked with the United Nations on art installations for the museum within the UNECA Africa Hall, creating work centred on themes ofdecolonisation, oppression, liberation, freedom and neocolonialism. This body of work reflects the same questions that continue to inform his wider artistic practice: who controls the narrative, how history is represented, and how images can challenge established ideas of power and identity.
His artistic language is deliberately difficult to categorise. Activism meets Pop Art. Documentary meets comics. Contemporary events collide with celebrity culture, fashion, music and street art. Familiar images areremoved from their expected contexts and reconstructed into works that are immediate, graphic and culturally charged.
