Beautiful complete set in 3 volumes of the Works of the Count of Lacépède, devoted to the natural history of egg-laying quadrupeds, snakes, fish, and cetaceans.

Abundantly illustrated edition with plates of zoological engravings on steel, representing several hundred animals: amphibians, reptiles, snakes, fish, cetaceans, etc.

The three volumes feature an old leather binding, with richly ornate backs of motifs and gold tooling, black title pieces and volumes 1, 2 and 3.

The interior is in satisfactory condition for works nearly 190 years old. The engravings remain particularly beautiful, detailed and well contrasted. Presence of foxing, stains and traces of time on certain pages.

Condition of bindings: significant wear, rubbing, leather losses and damaged headcaps, particularly visible on the backs. Please examine carefully the photographs, which are an integral part of the description.

The title pages announce 150 steel-engraved plates depicting at least 500 animals. The total number of plates present in the three volumes has not been verified individually; the set is therefore sold as is.
