Italian school (XIX) - Nobile Bambino dormiente

Splendid ancient oil painting on canvas depicting a sleeping child, dated 1864.

Very sweet subject and great atmosphere: a newborn with a pink dress and lace bonnet, lying on a white cushion, captured in serene slumber. In the background a red damask drape and dark curtains that highlight the luminous face of the little one.

Work of an Italian school from mid-nineteenth century, of excellent painting quality, with soft brushwork and great care in the lace details; possibly an important author.

Particulars:

On the back of the frame there is an original contemporary paper label handwritten in ink: "Pado. a Comm. 1864" – probably an antique collection/inventory label from Como dating 1864, testifying to the work's exact date.
