Marcello Mancuso's Athena bronze sculpture with a green antique patina, a 50 cm high bronze artwork (11 cm wide, 11 cm deep), edition 1 of 3, created in 2025, weighing 6 kg, hand-signed, originating from Italy.
Description from the seller
Artist: Marcello Mancuso
Title: Athena
Material: Bronze with green patina
Year: 2025
With a gray serena stone base pedestal, height 3x11x11 cm
Sold without a white pedestal.
Athena begins as a reflection on the female condition, but it rises to a universal symbol of wisdom and strength. The sculpture, slender and irregular, asserts itself in space like a column of memory and resistance. Verticality is not merely a formal gesture: it is a tension upward, toward light, toward awareness.
Bronze, an ancient and warrior material, is transformed here into living skin. The green patina, like time’s oxidation, tells the stratification of experiences, wounds, and conquests. The frontal disks, arranged like ritual signs, mark the rhythm of a path: every circle is a fragment of history, a thought, a voice.
Athena does not represent woman as an icon, but as an active principle: mind and body that build, defend, generate. It is a tribute to women who, like the goddess, embody clarity and justice, but also the capacity to create beauty amid conflict.
In this work, the sculpture becomes an architecture of thought: an intimate monument to the dignity and power of the feminine, which does not ask to be celebrated, but to be recognized as the foundation of civilization.
