Exclusive diptych of contemporary luminous sculptures by Renata Giannelli, comprising Grande Cuore (75 cm high) and Nuvola Materica (55 x 45 x 30 cm), hand-made with a coppery-toned iron wire core wrapped in hemp paper pulp and low-energy USB LEDs, signed by hand and finished in white, beige and brown, produced in Italy and sold directly by the artist.
Description from the seller
Exclusive diptych of luminous sculptural works in contemporary material art, entirely handmade as unique pieces.
The two works ("Heart" and "Cloud") were conceived to dialogue together in a single scenographic installation, fusing the strength of metal with the lightness of natural fiber.
Technique and Materials:
The supporting structure of both sculptures is hand-shaped in wrought iron wire braided. The metallic core was subsequently irregularly coated with an organic texture in hemp pulp, then structured and stiffened through a protective resin bath. The tactile surface creates suggestive plays of light and shadow when the sculptures are lit.
Specifications of Work 1: "Grande Cuore" (Great Heart) Dimensions: Height 75 cm.
Placement: Wall-mounted / vertical installation
Specifications of Work 2: "Nuvola Materica" (Material Cloud) Dimensions: 55 x 45 x 30 cm.
Placement: Three-dimensional volume sculpture
Technical Details and Safety:
Illumination: Each sculpture integrates a high-density LED filament with 120 light points, ensuring uniform, warm brightness and very low energy consumption.
Power: Universal USB output (5V). The low-voltage system guarantees total electrical safety of the artwork in any domestic environment.
Condition: New, freshly completed by the artist, signed on the body of the work.
The two pieces will be shipped together in a single special package, carefully protected and reinforced to preserve the integrity of the hemp paper and the structures.
ARTIST STATEMENT
In the course of my artistic research, handmade paper has been the core and foundational material of my language. It is a choice born many decades ago, starting from an in-depth study of Carl Gustav Jung and, in particular, his work on alchemy.
Fascinated by the transformative nature of matter and by the processes through which the alchemist guides diverse elements toward a new form, I embarked on a research and experimentation path that has continued for over forty years. Paper has thus become much more than a simple support: it is living matter, surface, body, and place of transformation.
From the early works, imbued with primordial energy and the search for a deeper dimension of consciousness, to the more rarefied pieces, in which silence becomes a space of perception, every work is born from a process of transformation and stratification. An alchemy of art in which matter and thought meet and transform each other.
In the most recent series, the luminous sculptures “Doodle” (Scarabocchio), produced in 2023, returns to the theme of convergence. Heterogeneous materials relate to each other, overlap, clash, and finally fuse, generating a new organic form, traversed and revealed by light.
In these sculptures, the object becomes a metaphor for the creative act: the visible result of a transformation process, but also a symbol of creativity itself and its ongoing evolution. Light, a recurrent element, does not merely illuminate the material but reveals its presence, amplifies its perceptual dimension, and contributes to the birth of the work.
Continuing to explore the alchemy of art means for me to investigate what happens in the passage from matter to form, from gesture to vision, from individual experience to a universal dimension.

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
Renata Giannelli is a Milan-based artist who lives and works in Italy. Her education began at the prestigious Scuola Politecnica di Design in Milan and continued with a degree in Painting from the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna.
Her professional activity initially developed in graphics and illustration, through collaborations with major Italian publishing houses and experience as Art Director at Cappelli Editore and Nicola Milano Editore. Parallel to this, Giannelli undertook a personal research in experimental artistic techniques, focusing in particular on the expressive and material potentialities of handmade paper.
This research, developed through experimentation with materials, textures, and artisan procedures, has received critical recognition and growing interest from the art and design market. From this path came Il Navile Graphic Editions, a real foundation dedicated to the production and enhancement of art graphics and contemporary artistic techniques. In 2004 Giannelli received the Excellence Award from the Chamber of Commerce of Bologna, in recognition of the quality and innovation of her activity.
In 2007 she transformed the enterprise into a cultural association, expanding its vocation to artistic research, training, and the promotion of contemporary art through exhibitions, meetings, and experimental activities.
In 2013 she founded La Scuola della Carta, a project dedicated to research and training on the creative applications of handmade paper in art and design. The school also became a certified venue for internships in collaboration with the Academy of Fine Arts.
Her activity also extends to cultural planning and artistic direction. She is the Art Director of the international illustration competition BO it! and, in 2017, she created a collection dedicated to Interior Design by exclusive commission from Top Art.
In 2020 her studio merged into the Bologna Social Cooperative Arti e Mestieri, marking a new phase of her research, also oriented toward social dimension and the transformative function of art. In this context, Giannelli deepens the potential of the artistic experience as a tool for relationship, expression, and support in pathways aimed at mental health.
Throughout her research, handmade paper gradually becomes matter, surface, and language: an element through which to explore the relationship between gesture, stratification, memory, and transformation. Her contemporary production includes unique and experimental works in which paper, color, matter, and different artistic techniques meet, giving life to a personal research, suspended between painting, collage, design, and sculpture."}
