French mirror with carved wood parecloses – Louis XIV / Regency, 19th century
Description
The mirror features a substantial carved and openwork fronton, particularly decorative, composed of a rich ornamental repertoire: shell, flowering vase, scrolls, foliage, vegetal motifs and stylized fantastical animals.
A large part of the decoration is carved on an elegant checked background, characteristic of certain French decorative productions from the early 18th century.
The central glass is surrounded by four antique parecloses, arranged around the main mirror.
All the mirrors show significant tin oxidation, with pitting, tints and loss of reflection. This aspect is consistent with antique mirrors and greatly contributes to the character and patina of the piece.
The back, also photographed, shows an old construction with tool marks, irregular cutouts and old joints.

Condition
Antique condition with patina, wear, splits, minor damage and old restorations appropriate to the object's age.
Notably to note:
- two floral elements are missing in the upper part of the fronton;
- the flower on the right is preserved;
- an old crack is visible in the upper right part of the frame;
- strong oxidation and alteration of the tin on the different glasses;
- traces of old mounts and interventions visible on the back;
- small losses and irregularities in the sculpture.
The mirror is sold in its current condition. The photographs, especially those of the back and details, are an integral part of the description.
A fine example of an antique French mirror with parecloses, remarkable for its particularly abundant carved decoration and for the patina of its glasses.

Considering the age and fragility of the glass, pickup in person is preferred.
