• Period: 1863 (19th century - Victorian/Pre-Raphaelite era)
• Description of the work: This extraordinary sculpture in Carrara White Statuario Marble is a masterpiece of rare sensitivity and elegance, imbued with the romance typical of the Victorian era. The work depicts the young Romilly (inspired by the famous and tragic medieval legend of the Boy of Egremont, immortalized in the poems of William Wordsworth and Rogers), caught in a moment of tender and faithful communion with his hunting dog.
The boy wears a finely carved medieval tunic, on whose chest proudly sits a heraldic emblem. The figure rests on an extraordinarily virtuosic naturalistic pedestal, where the marble seems to soften, bringing to life detailed ferns and soft moss.
The choice of Carrara Statuario Marble, beloved by the great masters of history, gives the sculpture a luminosity almost ethereal. The surface finish captures light sublimely, highlighting the delicacy of the boy's face and the realistic texture of the dog's fur.
• Packaging will be carried out directly by Cenzi ArtGallery on an EPAL wooden platform completely clad in wood, with professional and specific materials inside. The shipment will be fast, traceable and insured.
