Sculptural vase in polychrome ceramic – possible association with Gaetano Pesce

Sculptural decorative vase in polychrome glazed ceramic, of cylindrical shape slightly flared, mounted on a circular foot shaped. The surface is characterized by a rich plastic decoration composed of numerous globular relief appliqués, irregularly distributed on the body and accompanied by sinuous vertical elements in a dark shade.

The color scheme is dominated by intense tones of orange, red and ochre, with drips and color variations that enhance the tactile, material appearance of the surface; the applied elements, on the other hand, present a green-brown/dark coloration with orange-toned streaks. The deliberately irregular workmanship, glaze drips and the strong tactile component confer the vase with an organic, experimental and almost anthropomorphic character.

Formally conceived, with freedom of execution, expressive use of color and particular treatment of matter, the object exhibits features that may recall some experiments associated with Gaetano Pesce’s language. The attribution to Gaetano Pesce (the signature would seem to indicate the artist) is however not confirmed. Therefore examination and certification by a qualified expert before any definitive attribution is recommended.
