Description from the seller

Fascinating lyrical manifesto dedicated to “Turandot,” the famous opera by Giacomo Puccini published by Ricordi Editions.

Note: This is a later edition probably from the 1970s.

The manifesto revisits the refined composition realized by Leopoldo Metlicovitz for Turandot, an opera on the libretto by Giuseppe Adami and Renato Simoni. The protagonist is depicted frontally with a sumptuous oriental headdress adorned with dragons, jewels and decorative motifs, on a background rich in references to Chinese art and imagery.

One of the most elegant and recognizable images connected to Puccini’s masterpiece, characterized by an extraordinary synthesis of theatrical graphics, Art Deco, orientalist taste and the Italian poster tradition.

The composition features warm, refined tones, enriched by the deep blue of the dress and the large inscription “TURANDOT” at the bottom. The poster is completed by references to Puccini’s music, to the libretto by Adami and Simoni, and to Ricordi Editions.

Poster with a strong decorative impact, particularly suitable for collectors of opera, theater, Giacomo Puccini, Italian graphics, Art Deco, Orientalism and Ricordi Editions.

The copy shows signs of age, undulations, folds and light imperfections along the edges, as clearly visible in the photographs. The images are an integral part of the description.

It will be shipped carefully packed and protected.
