Cofanetto primi '900 - Jewellery case

Vintage jewelry box, Made in Italy, pierced gilt metal, burgundy velvet interior, Rocaille style. Dating from the first half of the 20th century.

Small rectangular desk box, probably intended to hold jewelry or small objects, measuring 9.5 × 8 × 3 cm. Made of gilded metal, it bears on the bottom the inscription “Made in Italy.” The structure is richly open-worked with a Rocaille-inspired motif: volutes, leaves, and roses in relief outline the sides and corners. The lid features a central ivory-colored panel, incised in a radiating pattern and adorned at the center with a small applied floral element; at the four corners appear elaborate pierced friezes. The perimeter band is chased with a herringbone motif. The interior is lined in burgundy red velvet, while the exterior bottom is finished in copper-gold fabric. The gilding shows slight signs of time, consistent with the object's use and age.
